And The Winner Is ???? Soldier Beetles

After a frantic call out over blogland for help last night my husband tells me that he read about it in the paper (DOH).  Apparently we are in the midst of a plague in Melbourne.  Good to Know Hubby - might have been interested in that story.   Oh well, he redeemed himself by researching it and reading forums and then went out with his torch in the middle of the night to have a look.

My friend Shelby from Ohio says that there they are called The Love Bug and for good reason.  There is more sex going on in my back yard than in a sitcom  (had to hold back there and be polite).

Still, i am lucky since they are not quite in the same proportions as above.

So, what to do - absolutely nothing.  Just enjoy being the host of this lovefest and let them be.  They will apparently do no harm.  Just wait for them to finish their business and they will leave.  Some say in a week or two others say at end of summer but goodness knows when that will be since its already meant to be Autumn.

This is the article from the Herald Sun if you are interested.

I still don't know what's going on with the celery so this competition is still open.  Ill give them a spray of eco-oil and hopefully whatever doesn't like it.

Thanks for visiting Living In The Land of Oz

  1. Actually, Soldier Beetles are very good for your garden - they don't harm the plants at all, and eat all those nasty pests that we don't want...
